Sender Settings
Sender settings control the visible sender identity and reply handling for an email template. This information is the first thing recipients see and is a key driver of open rates.
Where to Configure
Sender settings are on the Sender tab of the email template editor, whether the template is being created in the library or built inside a campaign.
Fields
| Field | Description | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| From Email | The address that appears as the sender. Selected from verified sender emails | Yes |
| Reply-to Email | The address that receives replies. Selected from verified sender emails | Yes |
| Subject | The email subject line. Supports variables | No (warning if missing) |
From Email
- Select from the dropdown of verified sender email addresses configured by an Org Admin in Domains and Senders.
- If no verified senders exist, the dropdown is empty and the campaign cannot be finished until a sender is verified.
- The From Email is what recipients see the email arrive from.
Reply-to Email
- Also selected from the verified sender list.
- Replies sent from a recipient's email client are directed to this address.
- Use a monitored mailbox so replies are not lost.
Subject
- Free text field for the subject line.
- Supports variable insertion, so a subject can carry a contact's own data.
- Variables appear as tags in the subject field and resolve when the email is sent.
- If no subject is set, a warning is shown when finishing the campaign, but it can still be finished.
Senders Supplied by a Brand
When the template has a brand applied and that brand supplies a sender address, the matching field is prefilled with it and locked. Hovering the locked field shows a tooltip explaining that the brand manages the value.
From Email and Reply-to Email lock independently. A brand that supplies only a From address leaves Reply-to selectable as normal, and the other way round. To change a locked value, either change the brand applied to the template or ask an administrator to update the brand. See Applying a Brand.
How Values Are Populated
From Email and Reply-to Email are populated from the list of verified senders an Org Admin manages in Settings. Only senders with a Verified status appear in the dropdown.
If no verified senders are available:
- The sender dropdowns are empty.
- A message explains that no verified senders are configured.
- The campaign cannot be finished until at least one sender is verified.
To have a sender added or verified, see Domains and Senders.
Best Practices
- Use a recognisable From address. Recipients are more likely to open an email from an address they know.
- Monitor the Reply-to mailbox. Recipients do reply to campaign email, particularly for service messages.
- Personalise the subject where it fits. A subject that carries the recipient's own detail tends to open better.
- Preview the subject with sample values to confirm variables resolve as expected.
